History
I have taught multiple grade and age levels during my 17-year tenure as a music educator. I spent my first 15 years as the 4th – 12th grade instrumental music director for the Saegertown Elementary and Jr./Sr. High Schools in the PENNCREST School District. I built a regionally known and respected instrumental music program that produced multiple Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) All-State musicians as well as the 2014 Lakeshore Marching Band Association Class A championship band.
In 2016, as a part of staff reduction, PENNCREST School District asked me to teach K-6th grade general music at Maplewood Elementary School. I accepted the challenge of teaching a new age level with open arms and led our district music educators in the development of a new elementary general music curriculum implemented during the 2017-2018 school year. Additionally, I started a 5th and 6th grade chess club in the hopes of being able mentor students not actively participating in the music program. In 2016, I was hired as Field Drill Designer and Instructor for the Grove City College Wolverine Marching Band. My responsibilities as staff member include the writing, design, and implementation of the field drill for the Wolverine Marching Band. This has been a great honor and responsibility to me as a 2001 graduate of Grove City College. In 2017, I formed my own marching band drill writing and educational services company, Ten-Hut Productions, LLC. While still in its infancy, my company will offer educational and design services to marching band directors including drill writing, adjudication services, clinics, seminars, instructional services, and an online marching arts education forum. |
